Description
The Bristow Periosteal Elevator is used to lift periosteum and separate soft tissue from bone during orthopedic, trauma, and reconstructive procedures. It can also be used when a section of bone needs to be exposed during fracture fixation, bone grafting, implant placement, or related surgical work.
The working end has a curved 10 mm sharp blade. The narrow, curved shape gives the elevator a more focused working surface and allows it to follow the contour of the bone as the periosteum is lifted. A curved end can also be easier to position when a straight elevator does not sit well against the area being worked on.
The instrument measures 23 cm (9″) overall. This provides some additional reach for deeper surgical areas without making the elevator difficult to handle. A ring handle at the opposite end gives the user a secure grip and makes it possible to control the blade while applying the required pressure.
The 10 mm blade width keeps the working end relatively narrow. This is useful when the elevator needs to be placed against a particular section of bone rather than across a broad area. The curved blade and ring handle give the instrument a simple, functional design for periosteal elevation and bone exposure.
Made from surgical-grade stainless steel, it is intended for repeated surgical use.
