Description

The DeBakey-Diethrich Atraumatic Forceps are designed for handling delicate tissue and vascular structures where a secure grip needs to be balanced with gentle contact. The DeBakey-Diethrich pattern is particularly useful for surgeons working with small vessels and fragile soft tissue during vascular and other detailed procedures.

The jaws have fine interlocking serrations rather than conventional sharp teeth. These serrations create multiple points of contact along the tissue, helping spread the gripping force instead of concentrating it in one spot. This allows the surgeon to hold and position tissue with less pressure and reduces the chance of crushing or tearing it during manipulation.

Two extra-fine tip sizes, 1 mm and 1.5 mm, are available. The smaller tips are useful when working around very small structures, while the 1.5 mm option provides a little more surface for general delicate tissue handling. The forceps are also available in different lengths, allowing the instrument to be chosen according to the depth and access required for the procedure.

The slim construction is helpful in a crowded operative field. It allows the tips to be placed close to the structure being handled without the instrument taking up unnecessary space. The lightweight feel also makes small movements easier to manage, which can be important during prolonged vascular or microsurgical work.

Made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel, the forceps are intended for repeated surgical use. The material provides the durability and corrosion resistance required for routine cleaning and sterilization. The fine jaws and overall construction are checked for proper alignment and finish before the instrument is supplied.

With 1 mm and 1.5 mm atraumatic tip options, fine interlocking serrations, and multiple length choices, the DeBakey-Diethrich Atraumatic Forceps are suited to controlled handling of vessels and delicate soft tissue.
