Description

The Fukuda Humerus Head Retractor is used in shoulder surgery to expose the humeral head and the glenohumeral joint. It is commonly used during shoulder arthroplasty, fracture fixation, and reconstructive procedures. The broad blade sits around the humeral head and holds the surrounding soft tissue away from the area being treated.

The blade is fenestrated, with an open section through its center. It has a broad shape that follows the contour of the humeral head rather than ending in a narrow point. Three blade widths are available: 32 mm, 35 mm, and 37 mm. This gives surgeons a choice of size depending on the exposure required and the anatomy being worked on.

The shaft is angled and connects to a T-handle. This puts the handle in a more accessible position while the blade is inside the shoulder. The T-handle also gives a solid grip when the retractor needs to be held in place. Overall length is 22.5 cm (9″).

During a shoulder procedure, the retractor can be positioned around the humeral head to keep soft tissue away from the surgical site.
