Description

The Vessel Dilator Long – Curved Pattern is used during vascular and microvascular procedures to open and enlarge blood vessels before further surgical work. It can be used when preparing a vessel for anastomosis, graft placement, and other reconstructive procedures. The instrument has a long shaft with a curved working end and a flat handle.

The working end has curved parallel tips with a mirror-polished finish. The tip diameter is 0.2 mm, with the two sides of the working end remaining parallel rather than coming to a narrow point. The curved shape allows the tip to approach the vessel from the side when a straight instrument is difficult to position.

The instrument measures 18 cm / 7″ overall. Most of its length is taken up by the slim shaft, which runs from the handle towards the curved tip. The flat handle has a simple shape and remains relatively narrow compared with the length of the instrument. The curved working end is the main difference between this pattern and the straight version.

During vascular surgery, the dilator can be introduced into the vessel lumen while the vessel is being prepared for anastomosis or graft placement. The parallel tips open the vessel along a short section rather than working with a single pointed end. The curved pattern can be used when the vessel is positioned deeper in the operative field or when the working area does not allow a direct approach.
