Description

The Round Bodied Vessel Dilator – Straight Pattern is used during vascular and microvascular procedures to open and gently enlarge blood vessels. It can be used while preparing a vessel for anastomosis, graft placement, and other reconstructive work. The instrument has a straight working end with a rounded body and a simple handle at the opposite end.

The working end has finely tapered straight tips with 0.1 mm and 0.3 mm tip diameters. The tip becomes narrower towards the end, giving it a fine point for entry into a small vessel opening. Both sizes follow the same straight pattern, with the main difference being the diameter of the working tip.

The body is round rather than flat and runs smoothly from the working end towards the handle. The instrument measures 15 cm / 6″ overall. Its rounded body gives the instrument a different feel from the flat-handled vessel dilators, while the straight shaft keeps the tip directly in line with the hand.

During vascular surgery, the dilator can be introduced into the vessel lumen while the vessel is being prepared for anastomosis or graft placement. The tapered tip can be worked gradually into the opening, with the smaller size available for finer vessels and the larger size for a wider opening. The straight working end allows the instrument to be brought directly towards the vessel.
