Description
The Mini-Catspaw Retractor is a small hand-held retractor for pulling back skin and superficial soft tissue during surgery. It is useful in plastic, reconstructive, dermatologic, and hand surgery, especially when the area being treated is small and a larger retractor would make access or visibility more difficult.
The working end has three semi-sharp prongs. Together, they give the surgeon several points of contact with the tissue and help keep the retracted area open. The prongs can be placed into the edge of the tissue and lifted or pulled back as needed during the procedure.
The instrument measures 16 cm (6¼”) overall. Its slender shaft leaves the area around the prongs relatively open, while the handle provides a practical place to hold the instrument during retraction. The compact size is useful for facial procedures and other work where the surgeon needs to make small adjustments to the position of the retractor.
The three-prong design can be used during flap elevation, wound revision, facial procedures, and similar soft tissue work. It is a simple instrument, but the smaller size makes it convenient when only a limited amount of tissue needs to be held back.
Made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel, the retractor is intended for repeated surgical use. The material provides durability and corrosion resistance and is suitable for routine cleaning and sterilization. The prongs and shaft are inspected for proper alignment, shape, and finish before the instrument is supplied.
With its three semi-sharp prongs, slim shaft, and 16 cm length, the Mini-Catspaw Retractor is suited to controlled retraction in smaller operative fields.
