Description

The Viper Hinged Scoliosis Retractor is used for deep tissue retraction during scoliosis correction, spinal reconstruction, and other demanding spine procedures. Its longer construction is intended for operative areas where the tissue and muscles sit deeper around the spine and need to be held away from the working site for a clear view.

The retractor has sharp prongs for engaging the tissue and keeping it in place. Its hinged blade construction gives the working ends some freedom to follow the shape of the operative area. This can be useful during longer spinal procedures, where the position of the retractor may need to be adjusted as the surgeon works through different stages of the operation.

A self-retaining ratchet mechanism holds the retractor open once the desired position has been reached. The user can adjust the separation during placement and then leave the instrument to maintain the exposure. This is particularly useful during lengthy procedures, when having an assistant hold a retractor continuously would be inconvenient.

The instrument measures 30 cm (11¾”) overall and is available with 40 mm, 70 mm, or 100 mm prong depths. The different patterns cover moderate as well as deeper exposure requirements. The longer prong options can be selected when more reach is needed around deeper spinal anatomy.

The combination of hinged blades and different prong depths gives the instrument some flexibility from one procedure to another. Before supply, the retractor is checked for its general finish, prongs, hinged movement, and ratchet operation to make sure the mechanism is working correctly.

Made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel, the retractor is intended for repeated surgical use and routine cleaning and sterilization. Proper maintenance helps preserve the sharp prongs, hinged joints, and locking mechanism.

For deep spinal exposure, the Viper Hinged Scoliosis Retractor offers a self-retaining design with hinged blades and several prong-depth options for different operative requirements.
