Description

Freer Hockey Stick Elevator is a double-ended instrument used for lifting, separating, and handling tissue during nasal and septal procedures. It measures 17.5 cm (7″) in length and has two different working ends, giving the surgeon more than one option without having to change instruments during the procedure.

One end has a narrow, curved hockey-stick shape. The bend near the tip allows the working end to reach around tissue and along the septum while the shaft remains relatively straight. The other end is broader and flatter, providing a different surface for lifting and moving tissue during the procedure.

The instrument can be used during procedures such as septoplasty and rhinoplasty, particularly when the surgeon needs to lift the nasal mucosa or work around the septal cartilage. The slim shaft is helpful in the restricted space inside the nose, while the different ends allow the instrument to be used for more than one part of the procedure.

At 17.5 cm (7″) long, the elevator provides useful reach without being difficult to handle. The center section is broad enough to hold securely, while the shafts on either side become narrower as they approach the working ends. This makes it possible to guide either tip with small hand movements when working close to the nasal structures.

The instrument is made from surgical stainless steel, with the material marked on the handle. Its smooth construction is suitable for repeated surgical use. Before a procedure, both working ends should be checked for dents, rough spots, or changes in shape, while the shaft and handle should also be inspected for damage. Proper cleaning and sterilization are important between uses.

For nasal and septal procedures requiring different working surfaces, Freer Hockey Stick Elevator gives the surgeon two useful ends in one instrument. Its 17.5 cm (7″) length, curved hockey-stick tip, and broader opposite end make it practical for controlled tissue elevation and manipulation in the nasal cavity.
