Description
Joseph Septum Raspatory is a slim instrument designed for work around the nasal septum during septal and nasal procedures. It measures 17 cm (6½”) in length and has a curved 2 mm working end. The narrow tip is suited to the small working space around the septum, while the longer handle gives the surgeon enough room to hold and guide the instrument comfortably.
The working end is curved rather than straight, with a fine 2 mm profile. This lets the tip approach tissue from a slight angle instead of coming directly from the front. The narrow end can be placed into smaller areas around the septum without taking up much space in the surgical field.
A raspatory of this type can be used for working along tissue around the nasal septum, including during septoplasty and related nasal procedures. The curved tip is useful when the surgeon needs to follow the shape of the septal area or work around a structure without using a wide or bulky instrument.
The 17 cm (6½”) length gives the instrument enough reach while keeping it easy to control. The handle has a broad and flattened shape with grooves along the surface, giving the fingers a secure place to rest. The shaft becomes much narrower toward the working end, so the tip can be guided with small movements while the hand stays farther back.
The instrument is made from surgical stainless steel, as indicated on the handle. This gives it the solid construction needed for repeated surgical use. Before use, the 2 mm curved end should be checked for dents, rough spots, or changes in shape, while the shaft and handle should also be inspected for damage. Proper cleaning and sterilization are important between procedures.
For septal work where a very narrow, curved working end is useful, Joseph Septum Raspatory offers a simple design that is easy to position. Its 17 cm (6½”) length and curved 2 mm tip make it suitable for controlled work around the nasal septum without adding unnecessary bulk to the surgical field.
