Description

The Cloward Cervical Spreader is designed to provide controlled distraction between cervical vertebral bodies during anterior cervical spine procedures. It can be used during cervical discectomy, decompression, fusion, and reconstructive procedures where maintaining access to the disc space makes the surgical work easier.

The instrument has slender distraction blades that are designed to sit within the cervical disc space. The narrow profile keeps the working end compact while allowing the spreader to be positioned carefully. The 50 mm working depth provides useful reach for accessing the operative area.

The ratcheted mechanism allows the distraction to be increased gradually and held in position during the procedure. It provides up to 20 mm of opening, giving the user room to create the amount of separation needed for disc removal, endplate preparation, or implant placement.

At 17 cm (6¾”) long, the spreader is compact enough to handle within the anterior cervical surgical field while still providing sufficient reach. The scissor-style handle gives the user a familiar grip and allows the distraction to be adjusted in a controlled manner.

It is made from surgical-grade stainless steel and goes through quality control inspection before it is supplied. The instrument is checked for its overall finish and condition, while the blades, ratcheted mechanism, and handles are inspected to make sure they are properly finished, secure, and functioning as intended. These checks help ensure that the instrument is in good working condition before use. The stainless-steel construction also makes it suitable for regular cleaning and maintenance as a reusable surgical instrument.

With its slender blades, 50 mm working depth, ratcheted mechanism, 20 mm maximum opening, and 17 cm length, the Cloward Cervical Spreader provides a practical option for controlled cervical distraction. Its compact design and adjustable mechanism make it suitable for anterior cervical procedures where stable access to the disc space is required.
