Description

The Intervertebral Disc Rongeur is used for removing disc material during discectomy, decompression, and other spinal procedures. It has a 40° upward jaw, which gives the working end a slight angle when reaching the disc space. This can be helpful when the area being worked on is not easy to approach with a straight jaw.

The angled jaw is the main difference between this model and a standard straight rongeur. It gives the user another way to reach the disc material without having to hold the instrument completely straight. This can be useful in smaller or deeper working areas where the angle of the instrument makes a difference.

The rongeur is available in bite sizes from 1 mm to 7 mm. Smaller bites can be used when only a limited amount of disc material needs to be removed, while the larger sizes take a little more material with each bite. Having several sizes available also makes it easier to choose an instrument that fits the procedure and the amount of material being removed.

Three shaft lengths are available: 15 cm (6″), 18 cm (7″), and 20 cm (8″). The 15 cm version gives a shorter, more compact option, while the 18 cm and 20 cm shafts provide extra reach when the working area is deeper. The choice of shaft length can depend on the surgical approach and how far the instrument needs to reach.

The ring handle is simple and easy to hold, with space for the fingers to open and close the jaws. It provides a familiar grip when the instrument is used repeatedly during a procedure.

Made from surgical-grade material, the instrument is checked during production to make sure the jaws open and close properly and the overall finish is up to standard. It is intended for repeated use and can be cleaned and maintained along with other reusable surgical instruments.
