Description

The Verbrugge Bone Holding Forceps are used to hold and manipulate bone fragments. These are used during fracture reduction, fixation, and reconstructive procedures. They are commonly used in orthopedic trauma surgery when a fragment needs to stay in place while plates, screws, or other fixation devices are positioned. The forceps are made for larger pieces of bone rather than very small fragments.

The jaws are broad, curved, and serrated. They fit around the bone and grip the cortical surface firmly. The wider shape gives more contact with the fragment, while the serrations help keep it from slipping as it is moved or aligned. This is useful when dealing with larger bones or fractures that require a stronger hold.

A ratcheted locking mechanism is built into the ring handles. After the jaws are placed around the bone, the handles can be locked to maintain the grip. The user does not have to keep squeezing them throughout the procedure. The long handles also provide useful leverage when reducing or repositioning a fracture fragment.

Three lengths are available: 25 cm (10″), 26 cm (10½”), and 27 cm (11″). The different sizes allow the forceps to be selected according to the working area and depth of the procedure. The longer design can be useful when additional reach is needed, while the ring handles keep the instrument easy to control.

Before being supplied, the forceps are checked for their finish and working condition. The jaws are inspected for proper alignment and condition, and the ratchet is checked to make sure it engages and releases correctly.

Made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel, the forceps are suitable for routine cleaning and sterilization as part of normal reusable instrument care. Proper maintenance helps keep the serrated jaws and locking mechanism in good condition.

With broad curved jaws and a locking ring handle, the Verbrugge Bone Holding Forceps are suited to fracture reduction and fixation where larger bone fragments need to be held securely.
