Description

The Hohmann Large Bone Elevator is made for orthopedic procedures where a broad area needs to be exposed. It is used to move soft tissue away from bone and can be used during hip and knee arthroplasty, complex fracture fixation, and reconstructive surgery. The extra-wide blade is useful when a smaller elevator would not provide enough coverage.

The working blade is 70 mm wide and ends in a curved retaining lip. The lip helps keep the instrument positioned against the bone while tissue is being retracted. With this much blade width, the elevator can hold back a larger amount of tissue and leave more of the operative area accessible.

The instrument measures 24 cm (9½”) overall. This length gives the surgeon room to work with the handle while the broad blade is positioned deeper in the surgical field. It is particularly suited to procedures where substantial exposure is needed rather than fine, localized retraction.

The blade remains broad and relatively simple in shape, with the curved lip providing the retaining point against the bone. This makes the instrument more appropriate for larger orthopedic exposures than narrow bone elevators.

Made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel, it is intended for repeated surgical use and routine sterilization. Proper cleaning and maintenance help preserve the instrument’s surface and resistance to corrosion.
