The Cobra Bone Elevator is used during orthopedic procedures when bone needs to be exposed and nearby soft tissue held out of the way. It can be used in trauma, reconstructive, and joint surgery. The cobra-shaped working end gives the instrument a wider contact area than a simple narrow elevator, while still keeping the tip relatively small.

The working end has a 10 mm tip width and a flared, cobra-shaped blade. This shape helps the instrument sit against the bone during retraction. It is useful when working around smaller structures or in parts of the operative field where there is not much room for a larger retractor.

There are two tip configurations available: blunt serrated and sharp serrated. The choice between the two can be made according to the procedure being performed and the surgeon’s preferred technique. Both versions retain the same general cobra-style design.

At 26 cm (10¼”) overall, the elevator provides a reasonable amount of reach for orthopedic work without being excessively long. The length also gives the user room to position the hand away from the immediate surgical site while keeping the working end under control.
