Description

The Viper Hinged Scoliosis Retractor is made for deep tissue retraction during scoliosis correction, spinal reconstruction, and other complex spine procedures. Its longer frame is useful when the operative area lies deeper and the surrounding tissue needs to be held away for a clear view. The self-retaining design also means it can stay in position without continuous assistance.

Sharp prongs form the working ends of the retractor. They provide a firm hold on the tissue, which can be useful during lengthy spinal procedures where steady exposure is needed. The hinged blades give some freedom when positioning the instrument, allowing the arms to sit according to the shape of the operative area rather than forcing a completely fixed position.

A ratchet mechanism keeps the retractor open once it has been adjusted. The opening can be changed during placement and then held while the procedure continues. This leaves the surgical team free to concentrate on the operative work instead of keeping manual pressure on the retractor.

The instrument measures 30 cm (11¾”) overall and comes with 40 mm, 70 mm, or 100 mm prong depths. The smaller depth can be used where moderate exposure is required, while the deeper patterns provide more reach for procedures involving deeper spinal structures. Having several depths available also gives the surgical set some flexibility between cases.

The hinged construction, sharp prongs, and ratchet are checked as part of the instrument’s quality inspection. The general finish and movement of the working parts are also examined before the retractor is supplied.

Made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel, the retractor is intended for repeated surgical use and routine cleaning and sterilization. Proper maintenance helps keep the prongs, hinges, and ratchet mechanism in good condition.

For deep spinal exposure, the Viper Hinged Scoliosis Retractor combines a long working profile with hinged blades and several prong-depth options, making it a useful part of a spine surgery instrument set.
