Description

The Bayonet Gouge is designed for controlled bone removal during orthopedic procedures. It has a 32 cm (12½”) length, giving it useful reach when working deeper in the operative area. The working end has a 9 mm width and a gently curved profile, while the long shaft connects it to a broad wooden handle.

The curved working end forms a narrow gouge rather than a flat cutting blade. This shape allows the instrument to be placed against the bone and used to remove material in a controlled manner. The 9 mm width provides a defined working surface without making the tip unnecessarily broad.

The bayonet-style shaft changes the position of the handle in relation to the working end. This leaves more space around the tip and can be useful when the surgeon needs to approach the bone without holding the handle directly over the operative area.

At 32 cm (12½”), the instrument provides extra reach for orthopedic work where a shorter gouge may not reach comfortably. The wooden handle gives the hand a solid surface to hold, while the metal strike plate at the back allows controlled tapping with a surgical mallet when needed.

The working end is suited to removing small sections of bone rather than making a wide cut all at once. Its curved profile can be positioned against the area being treated and advanced gradually, depending on the procedure and the amount of bone that needs to be removed.

Made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel, the metal portion is suitable for repeated professional use and sterilization. Each instrument is carefully checked for quality, including the gouge, shaft, handle connection, and strike plate. The working edge should also be inspected before use for chips, bending, or other damage.

The Bayonet Gouge combines a long reach, curved 9 mm working end, and metal strike plate for controlled bone removal in orthopedic surgery.
