Description
The Bayonet Cement Chisel is designed for removing bone cement during orthopedic procedures. It measures 40 cm (15¾”) in length and has a long, slightly offset shaft that leads to the working end. The bayonet shape keeps the handle away from the immediate area being worked on and gives the chisel useful reach.
The working end is available in 5 mm, 7 mm, and 10 mm widths. The smaller 5 mm option gives a narrower cutting surface, while the 7 mm and 10 mm sizes cover more of the cement. All three sizes have the same overall length.
The chisel has a flat and solid working end with a defined cutting edge. Its long shaft allows the tip to be positioned further into the operative area while the handle remains back from the site. This can be useful when working around deeper areas where a shorter instrument would be difficult to place.
The bayonet bend also changes the angle between the handle and the working end. The handle has a ridged Tufnol construction, giving the hand a firm grip, and a strike plate at the back for controlled blows with a suitable surgical mallet.
The different widths allow the chisel to be matched to the amount of cement being removed. A narrower blade can be used around a more restricted area, while a wider one can cover more of the working surface. The long 40 cm length remains the same across the range.
Made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel, the working section is intended for repeated professional use and sterilization. Each instrument is carefully checked for quality, including the blade, shaft, handle connection, and strike plate. The working edge should also be inspected before use for chips, bending, or other damage.
The Bayonet Cement Chisel combines a long reach, three blade widths, and a Tufnol handle with strike plate for controlled orthopedic cement removal.
