Description

The Bayonet Cement Splitting Osteotome is designed for breaking and removing bone cement during orthopedic procedures. It measures 40 cm (15¾”) and has a long, offset shaft that gives the working end extra reach. The instrument also has a guarded blade, which is designed specifically for splitting cement rather than using a plain flat osteotome.

The working end comes in 5 mm, 7 mm, and 10 mm widths. The 5 mm blade provides a narrower point of contact, while the wider 7 mm and 10 mm options can be used when a broader section of cement needs to be worked on.

The guarded blade has a raised section around the cutting edge, giving it a different profile from a standard osteotome. It can be positioned against the cement and advanced with controlled force, making it suitable for working through cement in a more deliberate way.

The 40 cm (15¾”) length gives the instrument considerable reach, which can be useful when the cement is deeper within the operative area. Its bayonet-style shaft keeps the handle offset from the working end, while the shaped Tufnol handle provides a firm grip. A strike plate at the end allows the osteotome to be tapped with a suitable surgical mallet when required.

The three blade sizes make it easier to match the working end to the area being treated. The same long-handled design is maintained across the range, so changing blade width does not mean changing the way the instrument is held.

Made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel, the working section is intended for repeated professional use and sterilization.
