Description
The Box Chisel is designed for orthopedic bone work, particularly for the preparation of the proximal femur. It has an overall length of 29 cm (13½”) and a 31 mm wide cutting end. The long shaft keeps the handle away from the immediate working area while giving the user enough reach for deeper orthopedic procedures.
The working end has a box-shaped, open profile rather than a simple flat blade. It is 6 mm thick and 31 mm wide, giving it a broad cutting surface for preparing bone. The shape allows the chisel to remove a defined section of bone rather than working across a very small point.
Its length is useful when working around the proximal femur, where the instrument needs to reach into the operative area. The straight shaft also gives a direct line from the handle to the cutting end, making it easier to position before controlled blows are applied.
The handle is made with a broad and rounded profile that provides a firm grip during use. The metal shaft joins directly to the working end, while the handle gives the user enough surface to control the instrument while preparing the bone.
Made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel, the chisel is intended for repeated professional use and sterilization. Each instrument is carefully checked for quality, including the cutting end, shaft, handle, and overall finish. The working edge should be inspected before use for chips, bending, or other damage that could affect its performance.
With its long shaft and broad 31 mm × 6 mm working end, the Box Chisel is suited to controlled preparation of the proximal femur during orthopedic procedures.
