Description

The Braithwaite Chisel is designed for bone work during nasal and facial surgery. It measures 14.5 cm / 5¾” and has a 5 mm wide working edge. The slim shaft leads into a textured cylindrical handle, giving the surgeon a firm grip while the chisel is positioned and tapped during the procedure.

Three configurations are available: without guard, guard on the left, and guard on the right. The guarded versions are useful when the cutting edge needs protection on one side during nasal bone work. The choice of left or right guard can be made according to the direction of the procedure and the area being approached.

In rhinoplasty and nasal reconstructive procedures, the chisel can be used for cutting, trimming, and reshaping the nasal bones. It is also suitable for controlled bone work around the nasal framework where a narrow 5 mm working edge is preferred. Its compact length keeps the instrument easy to handle around the face.

The working end is kept narrow and straight, while the handle has a textured surface for a secure hold. This combination gives the instrument a simple, familiar feel during use. The three guard options also allow the same basic chisel design to be selected in the configuration that fits the surgeon’s preferred approach.
