Description

The Duval Sliding Shaft Forceps are surgical forceps used to grasp and hold tissue during procedures. They have a long, 25 cm (9¾”) working length, curved jaws and a ratchet mechanism near the handles. The working end has a distinctive triangular ring shape, with options for DeBakey or serrated jaws. These different patterns provide a choice of gripping surfaces for the intended procedure.

All four versions measure 33 cm overall and have a 10 mm shaft. Two models have DeBakey jaws with 1×2 teeth, while the other two have serrated jaws. The triangular jaw opening is available in two sizes, with heights of 14 mm and 20 mm. The overall length and shaft size remain the same across the range.

The 14 mm jaw pattern has a smaller triangular opening, while the 20 mm pattern has a larger one. Both have a curved profile that leads from the long shaft to the gripping end. The DeBakey versions have a 1×2 tooth arrangement, whereas the alternative patterns use serrated jaw surfaces. These are the main differences between the four configurations.

The forceps have long, narrow arms that extend to oval finger rings at the handle end. The curved working section places the jaws at an angle to the shaft, and the triangular openings give the tips their recognisable shape. A ratchet closure is fitted near the handles to hold the jaws closed when engaged. The ring handles allow the instrument to be opened and closed by hand.

The forceps are made from surgical stainless steel. Before dispatch, each instrument passes through our quality inspection process. Our team checks the jaw alignment, serrations or teeth, ratchet action, shaft, finger rings, surface finish and overall workmanship before packing the forceps for delivery.

The Duval Sliding Shaft Forceps are available with DeBakey 1×2 toothed jaws or serrated jaws, in two triangular jaw sizes. The jaw heights are 14 mm and 20 mm, and all four models measure 33 cm overall with a 10 mm shaft. The curved working end, triangular jaw design and ratchet closure are shared features across this range.
