Description

The Ferris-Smith Kerrison Laminectomy Punch is used to remove small pieces of bone during laminectomy, decompression, and other spinal procedures. The jaw is angled 40° upward, which can be helpful when the bone is in a spot that is not easy to reach with a straight punch. Instead of having to work from a direct angle, the curved position of the jaw gives the instrument a little more room to work.

This model has a modified ring handle rather than the more common handle style found on some Kerrison punches. The rings give the fingers a secure place to sit and make it easy to open and close the jaws. This can be useful when the instrument is being used over and over during the same procedure.

There are two shaft lengths to choose from: 18 cm (7″) and 20 cm (8″). The 18 cm shaft is suitable when a shorter instrument is preferred, while the 20 cm version gives a little more reach. Bite sizes are available from 2 mm to 6 mm, so the punch can be selected based on the amount of bone that needs to be removed.
