Description

The Glover Bulldog Clamp – Straight is a small vascular clamp that is mostly used to temporarily occlude blood vessels during surgery. It has straight jaws and provides a direct gripping surface. The spring-loaded body allows the clamp to close without the usual finger rings and ratchet found on larger surgical clamps. The closing pressure is adjustable, allowing the pressure setting to be changed according to the requirements of the procedure.

It comes in four sizes, with overall instrument lengths of 50 mm, 68 mm, 85 mm, and 105 mm. Their jaw lengths are 20 mm, 30 mm, 43 mm, and 56 mm, respectively. The longer models have longer jaws, so the choice depends on the required working length and the vessel being clamped.

It has narrow gripping surfaces with fine serrations that are visible along the length of each jaw. The straight pattern has no bend at the working end, making it distinct from angled bulldog clamps. All four sizes follow the same basic design, with the dimensions changing across the range.

The clamp has a central circular section and a spring mechanism at the handle end. The ridged surfaces make it easier to hold the instrument, while the spring supplies the closing action. Unlike ring-handled clamps, this design has a compact body and no long arms extending back to finger rings.
