Description

The Harvey Jackson Self Retaining Retractor is used to hold tissue away from the operative area during orthopedic, spinal, trauma, and reconstructive procedures. Its self-retaining design means the retractor can remain in position without being held by hand throughout the procedure. This makes it useful when deeper tissue needs to stay separated for a clear working area.

The working end has opposing 3 × 3 sharp prongs. The sharp points engage the tissue and help keep the retractor from moving once it has been positioned. The blades have a 45 mm depth, giving the instrument enough reach for deeper tissue exposure rather than only surface-level retraction.

The blades are jointed, so their position can be adjusted to suit the shape of the operative area. A ratchet locking mechanism controls the opening and keeps the selected position in place. The retractor can be adjusted during placement and then left to maintain the required separation while the procedure continues.

The overall length is 30.5 cm (12″). This gives the instrument considerable reach for larger or deeper operative fields. The longer construction also provides room to position the handles away from the immediate surgical site while the 45 mm blades remain at the required depth.
