Description

The Kleinert-Kutz Bone Nibbler is a small bone-cutting instrument used when only a limited amount of bone needs to be removed. It is intended for hand, foot, and other procedures involving small bones, particularly where the working area is narrow and the surgeon needs to make controlled bites rather than remove a larger section at once.

The jaws have a curved configuration with a 2 mm bite capacity. This fine bite allows small pieces of bone to be taken away during shaping, contouring, or debridement. The curved jaws can also be positioned around the anatomy more easily when there is not much room for the instrument.

The double-action mechanism operates the jaws and gives the instrument additional mechanical advantage. This reduces the amount of hand force needed to close the jaws and makes repeated biting easier during a procedure. The mechanism is straightforward, with the cutting action controlled directly through the handles.

At 13 cm (5″) overall, the nibbler is considerably more compact than larger orthopedic bone cutters. The shorter length makes it easier to work close to the surgical site, especially during procedures on the hand or foot. Its small jaws and compact body also allow more precise positioning when only a small section of bone is being removed.

It is intended for delicate bone work rather than heavy bone cutting. The 2 mm bite gives the surgeon the option of removing bone gradually, checking the shape or exposure between bites. This can be useful for contouring and debridement where removing too much bone at once is not desirable.

Made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel, the instrument is designed for repeated surgical use and routine sterilization. Proper cleaning and maintenance help keep the jaws and double-action mechanism functioning properly while maintaining the steel’s resistance to corrosion.

With its curved 2 mm jaws, double-action mechanism, and 13 cm (5″) length, the Kleinert-Kutz Bone Nibbler is suited to controlled bone removal and contouring in hand, foot, and small bone procedures.
