Description

The Klienert-Kutz Skin Hook is used to lift and hold skin or superficial soft tissue during surgery. Its small hook makes it useful when only a limited amount of tissue needs to be retracted, particularly in plastic, reconstructive, dermatologic, and hand surgery.

Two sizes are available: a 3.5 mm small hook and a 5 mm large hook. The smaller version suits finer work, while the larger one gives a slightly wider point of contact when more tissue needs to be lifted. Both are intended for controlled retraction rather than heavy tissue exposure.

The instrument measures 16 cm (6¼”) overall. This gives the surgeon a useful working distance while keeping the hook easy to position around the operative site. Its slender construction also leaves the area around the hook relatively open, which can be helpful when visibility is important.

A knurled handle provides a textured surface for the fingers to hold. This makes it easier to keep the hook steady once it has been placed beneath the skin edge. The handle and shaft are kept relatively slim, so the instrument does not feel unnecessarily bulky during fine work.

The hook can be used to gently lift a skin edge and create additional access for dissection, suturing, wound closure, or other work taking place underneath. The choice between the 3.5 mm and 5 mm version can be made according to the area being treated and the amount of tissue that needs to be held.
