Description
The Langenbeck Retractor is a hand-held retractor used to hold back skin, soft tissue, muscle, and wound edges during surgery. It is used across plastic, reconstructive, orthopedic, general, and trauma procedures, with the angled blade giving the surgeon a simple way to improve access to the area being treated.
There are four blade sizes available. The small pattern has a 22 mm blade length and 6 mm blade width. The medium measures 45 mm × 13 mm, while the large has a 65 mm × 25 mm blade. For deeper or wider exposure, the extra-large pattern has a 90 mm blade length and 20 mm width. The different sizes make it easier to choose a retractor that fits the tissue depth and the amount of exposure needed.
The instrument itself measures 21.5 cm (8½”) overall. Its angled blade can be positioned against the tissue and pulled back to open up the surgical field. The shape is straightforward, but that is part of its usefulness. It can be placed where needed without a complicated mechanism getting in the way.
An ergonomic handle provides a firm place to hold the retractor while maintaining steady pressure. The longer overall length also gives the surgeon useful reach and leverage when working deeper in the operative field.
It is made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel and intended for repeated surgical use. The stainless steel makes it durable and corrosion-resistant. It is quite suitable for routine cleaning and sterilization. The blade and handle are inspected for proper shape, alignment, and finish before the instrument is supplied.
With four blade sizes ranging from 22 mm to 90 mm in length, the Langenbeck Retractor offers a practical selection for different tissue depths and surgical exposure requirements.
