Description

The Magill Suction Tube is used to remove blood, mucus, and other fluids from the airway during clinical procedures. Its long and curved tube has a rounded working tip and a finger ring near the opposite end. The curve gives the tube a different profile from straight suction instruments and helps with positioning when access to the airway is limited.

The instrument measures 21 cm (8¼”) in length and is available with three tip diameters: 3 mm, 3.5 mm, and 4 mm. The overall design remains the same across the range, with the diameter of the working tip being the main difference. These options allow the appropriate size to be selected for the intended application.

The metal shaft runs straight for much of its length before sweeping into a curve near the tip. The end is rounded, rather than sharply pointed. This curved section forms the working end of the instrument, while the long shaft provides reach. The three available diameters offer different sizes without changing the overall length.

A circular finger ring is fitted near the rear of the tube, with a flat raised section above it. These features distinguish this pattern from suction tubes that have a separate broad handle. The opposite end is open for connection to compatible suction equipment, allowing fluid to pass through the tube during use.

The instrument is made from surgical stainless steel and is intended for repeated use where permitted, following the appropriate cleaning and sterilization procedures.
