Description
The McCabe Facial Nerve Dissector is used for fine dissection around the facial nerve and other small anatomical structures. It is intended for delicate otologic and neurotologic work, where the surgeon needs to separate tissue carefully and keep the working area visible.
The working end has fine and gently curved jaws. The curved ends allow the instrument to access narrow surgical areas and make it possible to approach structures from an angle rather than directly from above. This is useful when working around the facial nerve, small vessels, and surrounding tissue. It can be used in middle ear surgery, skull base procedures, and facial nerve exploration.
The handle is a lightweight ring-handle design with a spring-like action. The instrument opens again after being released, so the surgeon can make repeated small movements without having to reset the jaws by hand. Its light construction also keeps the instrument easy to control when working under magnification.
Because the jaws are fine and curved, the instrument is better suited to detailed dissection than to heavier tissue manipulation. The shape gives the surgeon a clear working area while the narrow tips can be placed close to the structure being dissected.
It is made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel, chosen for the durability and corrosion resistance required of a reusable surgical instrument. The working jaws and handle are inspected for alignment, movement, and overall finish before the instrument is supplied.
For delicate facial nerve and otologic work, the McCabe Facial Nerve Dissector provides a fine curved working end with a lightweight spring-action handle for controlled dissection.
