Description

The PCL Retractor is used during knee surgery to expose the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) and the area around it. It is suitable for PCL reconstruction, ligament repair, and total knee arthroplasty, particularly when the surgeon needs to keep the ligament and nearby structures clearly visible.

The working end is forked, allowing the retractor to sit around the cruciate ligament rather than pulling directly against it. The prongs are 4 mm wide, with a 21 mm tip width. This gives the retractor two points of contact around the ligament and helps keep the instrument in position during use.

The shaft is elongated and curved. Its shape follows the contours of the knee and allows the working end to be placed into the intercondylar notch and posterior compartment. The instrument measures 25 cm (10″) overall, providing the reach needed for work within the knee joint while keeping the handle accessible to the surgeon.

A proximal finger ring is included at the handle end. This gives the user another point of control when positioning the retractor or maintaining it in place during a longer procedure. The forked tip and curved shaft are the main features that distinguish this instrument from a standard tissue retractor.
