Description

The Ragnell-Davies Retractor is a small double-ended retractor and used for holding back skin, soft tissue, and wound edges during surgery. It is useful in plastic, reconstructive, hand, dermatologic, and minor surgical procedures, especially when the operative area is small and a larger retractor would be difficult to position.

There are two blades, one at each end, with different sizes. One measures 10 mm × 5 mm, while the other is 15 mm × 5 mm. The narrower blade can be useful when the surgeon needs to work close to a small wound edge or in a limited area. The larger blade provides a little more surface when broader retraction is needed.

It is very convenient for surgeons to have both sizes on the same instrument. They can simply turn the retractor around when a different blade is more suitable, rather than changing to a different instrument. The blades are also narrow enough to leave the surrounding surgical field relatively open which is quite useful.

The instrument measures 14 cm (5½”) overall. Its short length makes it easy to maneuver, while the slender shaft keeps the handle from taking up extra space around the operative site. The balanced design also helps when the retractor needs to be held steadily or repositioned as the procedure progresses.

It is made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel and intended for repeated surgical use. The use of stainless steel makes it durable and corrosion-resistant. It is suitable for routine cleaning and sterilization. The blades and shaft are checked for proper shape, alignment, and finish before the instrument is supplied.

With 10 mm × 5 mm and 15 mm × 5 mm blade options in one instrument, the Ragnell-Davies Retractor gives surgeons a simple and practical way to adjust the amount of tissue retraction needed during delicate procedures.
