Description
The Taylor Hip Retractor is used to hold tissue away from the surgical area during hip, orthopedic, and spinal procedures. Its long, right-angled shape lets the blade reach down into the operative site while the handle stays out of the way. It is a straightforward hand-held retractor for situations where a deeper field needs to stay open.
The blade is broad and slightly curved at the end. That curved lip helps it sit against the tissue instead of slipping away as the retractor is held in place. The wider blade also spreads the contact over more surface area, which is useful when holding muscle and other soft tissue aside.
The retractor is 19 cm (7½”) long and comes in three depth options: 70 mm, 85 mm, and 100 mm. The choice mainly comes down to the depth of the operative site. The 70 mm version works for a shallower field, while the 85 mm and 100 mm options give extra reach when the tissue being held is deeper.
In hip and spinal surgery, exposure can be just as important as the procedure itself. Once the tissue has been moved away, the surgeon has a clearer route to the area being treated. The long shaft and angled blade make it possible to keep the hand above the wound while the blade remains down in the field.
The instrument is made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel for repeated surgical use. The blade and curved lip should be checked for any rough edges or distortion before use, and the shaft should be inspected for bending or damage. It should be cleaned and sterilized according to the facility’s standard instrument-reprocessing procedure.
With three depth choices, 70 mm, 85 mm, and 100 mm, and a 19 cm (7½”) overall length, the Taylor Hip Retractor offers a simple way to maintain exposure in deeper orthopedic and spinal operative fields.
