Description

The Travers Self-Retaining Retractor Curved is a sturdy surgical retractor designed for procedures where steady tissue exposure is needed without continuous manual assistance. It can be used in plastic and reconstructive surgery, as well as orthopedic and general surgical procedures. The curved design keeps the frame out of the immediate working area while the self-retaining mechanism holds the retractor in position.

At the working end, the retractor has opposing 4 × 4 blunt prongs with a 26 mm prong depth. The deeper prongs provide a secure hold on skin and soft tissue during retraction. Their blunt tips engage the tissue without sharp penetration, making them suitable when firm but less aggressive tissue handling is required.

The retractor measures 20 cm (8″) overall. This length provides good reach when working in deeper or less accessible surgical areas. The curved frame also gives the surgeon more room around the operative site and helps keep the instrument from getting in the way during the procedure.

A ratchet locking mechanism allows the retractor to be opened to the required width and held there. Once adjusted, it maintains the selected position without the need for someone to keep holding the instrument. The retractor can also be repositioned when a different amount of exposure is needed.
