The Vessel Dilator Long – Straight Pattern is used during vascular and microvascular procedures to open and enlarge blood vessels before further surgical work. It can be used while preparing a vessel for anastomosis, graft placement, and other reconstructive procedures. The instrument has a long straight body with a fine working end and a flat handle.

The working end has parallel tips rather than a tapered point. The tips are available in 0.2 mm and 0.3 mm diameters, with both sizes following the same straight pattern. The parallel surfaces remain even towards the end, giving the working part a different shape from the narrow point found on tapered vessel dilators.

The instrument measures 18 cm / 7″ overall, giving it a longer reach than the shorter vessel dilator patterns. Its shaft is slim and straight, with the working tips extending directly from it. The flat handle sits at the opposite end and keeps the overall shape simple without adding a large or bulky grip.

During vascular surgery, the dilator can be introduced into the vessel lumen while the vessel is being prepared for anastomosis or graft placement. The parallel-tip design is used to open the vessel along a short, even section rather than working with a single tapered point. The two tip sizes allow the instrument to be selected according to the vessel opening being prepared.

The surgical stainless steel construction gives the dilator a firm body with a smooth metal surface.
