Description
The Watson Skin Graft Knife is used to harvest split-thickness skin grafts for plastic, reconstructive, burn, and trauma procedures. It is available in right-handed and left-handed versions, allowing the surgeon to use the configuration that fits their usual technique.
The knife has a smooth roller bar at the working end. The bar is designed to stay steady as the instrument is moved across the donor site rather than oscillating or rotating. This is important when an even graft is required, as movement of the roller can affect the depth of the cut.
The overall length is 30.5 cm (12″), giving the surgeon enough working length to handle the knife across the donor area. Graft thickness is set using the adjustment mechanism. The locking nut is loosened first, then the adjuster nut is rotated to reach the required setting. Once the desired thickness has been selected, the locking nut is tightened again to hold the adjustment in place.
The roller bar moves only in a parallel direction when its position is adjusted. This keeps the cutting depth consistent across the width of the graft rather than allowing one side to sit higher or lower than the other. The result is a more even split-thickness graft during harvesting.
It is used where controlled skin graft harvesting is required, including plastic and reconstructive surgery, burn treatment, and trauma procedures. Its relatively long design and adjustable cutting depth make it suitable for this specific type of surgical work.
Made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel, the Watson Skin Graft Knife is intended for repeated surgical use. The stainless-steel construction provides durability and resistance to corrosion with appropriate cleaning, maintenance, and sterilization.
