Description
The Wests Self-Retaining Retractor is a compact surgical retractor made for procedures where tissue needs to be held apart while leaving the surgeon’s hands free. It is used in plastic, ENT, hand, and minor surgical procedures. Its small profile makes it easier to position in areas where space around the operative site is limited.
The working end has opposing 3 × 4 sharp prongs with an 18 mm prong depth. The sharp prongs provide a firm hold on the tissue and help keep the retractor from moving once it has been placed. This is useful when steady retraction is needed during a procedure.
At 14 cm (5½”) overall, the retractor is easy to handle in smaller surgical fields. Its compact size allows the prongs to be positioned where needed without taking up unnecessary space around the operative site. The lightweight construction also makes it easier to adjust during surgery.
A ratchet locking mechanism holds the retractor at the selected opening. The surgeon can adjust the amount of retraction and lock it in place rather than having to maintain pressure by hand. If the exposure needs to be changed, the ratchet can be released and the position adjusted accordingly.
