Description

The Hohmann Bone Elevator is a broad orthopedic retractor used when more extensive bone exposure is needed. It can be used during joint reconstruction, arthroplasty, fracture fixation, and other major orthopedic procedures. The wide blade is intended for moving soft tissue away from larger areas of bone.

The working end measures 43 mm in width and has a curved retaining lip. The lip helps keep the blade engaged against the bone while the surrounding tissue is held back. Compared with narrower Hohmann elevators, this wider version is suited to situations where a greater area of retraction is required.

At 24.5 cm (9½”) long, the instrument provides good reach into the operative field. The length also gives the surgeon room to position and control the elevator while the broad blade remains at the working site.

The curved blade is the main part of the design, with the retaining lip helping prevent the instrument from slipping away from the bone during use. It can be positioned as needed to maintain exposure while the procedure is carried out.

It is made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel. This makes it suitable for repeated surgical use and routine sterilization, with proper cleaning and maintenance helping to preserve the instrument over time.
