Description

The Meyerding Retractor is used for retracting muscle and soft tissue during orthopedic, trauma, pelvic, and reconstructive procedures. It is intended for deeper operative areas where steady retraction is needed to keep the bone or surgical site visible. The broad blade gives the instrument a useful working surface for moving tissue away from the area being treated.

The retractor has a broad right-angled blade with a serrated edge. The angle gives the blade a direct way to reach and retract tissue, while the serrations help keep the retracted tissue from sliding back during the procedure. Three blade sizes are available: 50 mm × 16 mm, 70 mm × 25 mm, and 90 mm × 50 mm, allowing the size to be selected according to the amount of exposure required.

An elongated shaft connects the blade to a wide handle. The longer shaft provides reach for deeper operative fields, while the broad handle gives the user a solid area to hold when applying retraction. This is useful when the instrument needs to remain in position for an extended part of the procedure.

The overall length is 22 cm (9″). The size provides a balance between reach and control without making the retractor unnecessarily long. Depending on the blade selected, it can be used for different levels of tissue exposure and for procedures involving larger or deeper anatomical areas.
