Description

The DeBakey Ring Handled Bulldog Clamp is used to clamp blood vessels during vascular surgery. It has long and narrow jaws. The jaws have fine serrations on the inner surfaces. The surgeons can choose from four jaw shapes depending on how the clamp needs to sit around the vessel during the surgical procedure.

It comes in straight, curved, and 45° angled patterns. It measures 12.5 cm (5″) in length. The 90° angled version is shorter at 10 cm (4″). Although the lengths vary, all four patterns have narrow jaws and ring handles.

The straight pattern has jaws that run forward without a bend. The curved version follows a gradual arc, while the 45° and 90° patterns have sharper bends. These shapes give the surgeon different ways to approach a vessel. Fine serrations run along the inside of the jaws to help maintain the grip when the clamp is closed.

The handles have two oval finger rings and a ratchet lock near the joint. The lock keeps the jaws closed until it is released. The long arms connect the handles to the working end, and the different jaw patterns change the angle at which the clamp reaches the vessel.

Made from surgical stainless steel, the clamp can be reused after proper cleaning and sterilization. Before use, check that the jaws meet evenly and that the serrations are not worn or damaged.
