Description

The Humerus Head Retractor is used during shoulder procedures to hold tissue away from the humeral head and keep the joint area accessible. It can be used in shoulder arthroplasty, trauma surgery, and reconstructive procedures where exposure of the proximal humerus is required.

The working end is strongly curved and has two blunt prongs. Rather than having a flat blade, the prongs give the retractor two points of contact with the tissue. The blunt ends are intended for retraction of soft tissue and capsular structures around the shoulder without a sharp point pressing into the tissue.

The curved shape is one of the main features of this retractor. It follows the general contour of the proximal humerus and can be positioned around the area being exposed. The 18 cm (7″) overall length keeps the instrument relatively compact, which is useful when working around the shoulder joint where there may be limited space for handling larger retractors.

The two-prong end can be placed around the tissue that needs to be moved aside while the surgeon works on the joint. Its size makes it more suited to focused retraction than to holding back a large volume of tissue. The blunt prongs also give the working end a defined shape for positioning during exposure.

It is made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel. It is intended for repeated surgical use and routine sterilization. With proper cleaning and instrument care, the stainless steel construction helps maintain the working surface and resistance to corrosion.
