Description
The Pelvic Reduction Forceps – Extended Length Pattern are made for holding and repositioning pelvic and acetabular fracture fragments during complex trauma and reconstructive procedures. They are intended for deeper operative fields where a standard-length reduction forceps may not provide enough reach. The forceps can be used during fracture reduction and fixation when the fragments need to be kept under control.
The instrument has elongated reduction arms with pointed ball tips. The rounded tips provide a defined grip on the bone while avoiding the sharper point of a conventional pointed jaw. This allows the forceps to engage a fracture fragment without unnecessarily digging into the cortical surface. The longer arms also help reach areas that are further inside the operative field.
A speed-lock mechanism is incorporated into the forceps for adjusting and maintaining compression. Once the arms are positioned, the mechanism can be set to hold the selected reduction while fixation is prepared. The compression can be adjusted during the procedure if the position of the fragments needs to be changed.
The overall length is 40 cm (16″), giving this pattern considerably more reach than standard pelvic reduction forceps. The extended handles provide leverage for working in deeper pelvic areas while keeping the instrument under control. This length is particularly relevant when the fracture site cannot be reached comfortably with a shorter instrument.
The forceps are checked for their general finish and working condition before supply. The reduction arms, ball tips, and speed-lock mechanism are inspected to make sure the components are properly aligned and the compression mechanism operates correctly.
Made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel, the forceps are suitable for routine cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance associated with reusable surgical instruments. Proper care helps maintain the working tips, locking mechanism, and overall finish.
For deep pelvic and acetabular fracture work, the Pelvic Reduction Forceps – Extended Length Pattern provide 40 cm of reach along with pointed ball tips and adjustable speed-lock compression.
