Description

The Posterior Glenoid Elevator is used in shoulder surgery when the surgeon needs access to the glenoid from the posterior side. During procedures such as shoulder arthroplasty and reconstruction, it can be positioned behind the humeral head to retract it and open the view of the glenoid cavity. The instrument has a long profile, which is useful when the working area sits deeper within the shoulder.

At the end is a curved working blade shaped for placement along the posterior rim of the glenoid. The curve helps the tip follow the bony anatomy rather than approaching it with a completely straight edge. Its working surface is also textured, giving the blade additional contact when it is positioned against bone.

There are three tip widths: 8 mm, 12 mm, and 20 mm. This range gives a choice between a relatively narrow point of contact and a broader working end. The appropriate width can be selected according to the patient’s anatomy, the space available, and the amount of exposure required during the procedure.

A long shaft separates the blade from the broad handle. This leaves room for the working end to be positioned deeper in the shoulder while the surgeon controls the instrument from outside the immediate operative area. The broad handle also provides a substantial gripping surface when retraction needs to be maintained. There are no moving or locking parts to adjust; positioning is controlled directly through the handle and shaft.

Made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel, the instrument is intended for repeated surgical use and routine sterilization. The material provides the strength required for orthopedic retraction and offers resistance to corrosion when the instrument is correctly cleaned and maintained.

The Posterior Glenoid Elevator combines a curved, textured blade with a long shaft and broad handle for posterior shoulder exposure. With 8 mm, 12 mm, and 20 mm tip options, it can be selected for different levels of access during arthroplasty, reconstruction, and other procedures involving the glenoid.
