Description

The Round Bodied Vessel Dilator – Straight Pattern is used during vascular and microvascular procedures to open and gently enlarge blood vessels. It can be used while preparing a vessel for anastomosis, graft placement, and other reconstructive work. The instrument has a long straight body with a fine working end and a rounded profile.

The working end has finely tapered straight tips available in 0.1 mm, 0.2 mm, and 0.3 mm diameters. The tips become narrower towards the ends, with all three sizes following the same straight pattern. The fine working ends are intended for entry into small vessel openings during preparation.

The instrument has a round-bodied construction and measures 18 cm / 7″ overall. The body remains slim along most of its length before widening slightly towards the handle. Its extended length gives the instrument more reach than the shorter round-bodied patterns, while the straight working end stays directly in line with the body.

During vascular surgery, the dilator can be introduced into the vessel lumen while the vessel is being prepared for anastomosis or graft placement. The three tip sizes allow the instrument to be selected according to the vessel opening being worked on. The straight working end can be brought directly towards the vessel when the operative area allows a direct approach.

The surgical stainless steel construction gives the dilator a firm body with a smooth metal surface. The fine tips, shaft, and round body form one solid instrument with no moving parts.
