Description

The Wroblenski Dislocating Hook is used during hip surgery to help with dislocation and positioning of the femoral head. It is commonly used in total hip replacement and other reconstructive procedures where the proximal femur needs to be brought into a more accessible position. The hook gives the surgeon a way to apply traction to the femur while working around the hip joint.

The working end is a curved hook shaped to engage around the neck of the femur. Its contoured profile gives the hook a defined point of contact during dislocation and positioning. Once placed around the femoral neck, it can be used to apply traction and leverage as required during the procedure.

The shaft is elongated and measures 25 cm (10″) overall. This length provides useful reach into the hip without making the instrument difficult to handle. It also leaves some distance between the working end and the surgeon’s hand, which is useful when the femur is being manipulated within a deeper operative field.

At the opposite end is a robust T-handle. The handle provides a firm grip and gives the user a straightforward way to control the hook while applying force. The T-shaped design is particularly suited to this type of instrument, since the hook may need to be pulled or repositioned during femoral dislocation.

The curved hook and long shaft form a fairly simple instrument, with the working end doing most of the work. The contoured shape is intended to help maintain contact around the femoral neck while the femur is being moved. The handle remains outside the operative area and can be adjusted as needed throughout the procedure.

It is made from premium surgical-grade stainless steel. It is intended for repeated surgical use and routine sterilization. Proper cleaning and maintenance help preserve the hook’s surface and maintain its resistance to corrosion.

With its curved femoral-neck hook, 25 cm (10″) shaft, and robust T-handle, the Wroblenski Dislocating Hook is suited to femoral head dislocation and proximal femur manipulation during total hip replacement and reconstructive hip procedures.
